Committee of Youth and Sports held yesterday in Tabqa city a festival of Arabian horses in the city of sports in the presence of Hamed al-Faraj and Rohan Hami member of the joint presidency of the Legislative Council and a number of events and parents.
The event was aimed at reviving the region’s heritage and encouraging the attention of Arab horses and the need to preserve them.
Seven authentic Arabian horses participated in the festival, and the cavalry made long-awaited performances. The event was attended by children riding horses and racing.
Horse breeding in Raqqa is a long-standing legacy practiced by some tribes and known tribes. Among the most famous tribes that breed horses are the Shammar tribe and Abu Shaaban, “Al-Afadalah.” The war affected the breeders as well as others, forcing many to sell them for fear of theft.
This event gives reassurance and satisfaction to the breeders of horses. Today they are not marginalized. They encourage their follow-up to introduce more people to the original Arabian horse, which the poets gave to their fathers. Some of them spoke to him and some of them cry over him.
At the end of the festival, workshops were held from Dabkeh and each of the knights was honored with prizes by the Youth and Sports Committee.
