“The Directorate of Antiquities in Hasaka” is a hard work to preserve heritage
The importance of the Antiquities is distinguished by its special splendor from the other Antiquities, as it dates back to ancient eras and nations thousands of years ago. In order to preserve the traces of our country from theft and vandalism, the Department of Antiquities established the Directorate of Archeology in Hasakah city .
The Directorate is responsible for the protection, restoration and preservation of archaeological sites without prospecting because of the UNESCO Excavation Prevention Act because of the ongoing war
Rana Assad, Head of the Antiquities Protection Committee in the Directorate said: We are doing all our efforts to protect and restore archeological sites. We have appointed guards in all areas to prevent excavations and vandalism. We have completed several projects, including the restoration of the effects of Tel Baidar hill and Tal Hlfah and Al Farahiyah.
We have also made many trips to other areas such as Raqqa, Tabqa and Kobani. We have established specialized committees in these areas, and we work with many international missions and organizations.
Rana Assad added: “We have carried out many activities and awareness campaigns about the importance of antiquities and how to read pottery tablets with the students of the universities of the Euphrates and Ruja Ava and are currently preparing for exhibitions and the establishment of a special museum.
