Initial response teams document / 2,800/ bodies
Raqqa – The initial response team of Reconstruction Committee in Raqqa Civil Council started its work by retrieving bodies from the Panorama cemetery.
It is expected that 1,000 to 1500 bodies are found in panorama cemetery, the largest of the tombs of Raqqa, according to Yasser Al-Khamis, the commander of the initial response team.
“The work is done in the presence of an integrated team in addition to Forensic doctors and their assistants, and we document all the information about retrieved bodies in official records, and when the identity of the body is confirmed through personal evidence and witnesses are delivered to their relatives duly, In case the body is unidentified, we will bury it in Tal Al Bayahah cemetery, which was established by Raqqa Civil Council, in a digital sequence and document all the information to be easily identified in the future.
The initial response teams operate in four mass graves to retrieve the bodies, and the number of bodies recovered in the city reached 2,800.
