Restoration of Ja’abar Citadel

Tabqa – The Tourism and Antiquities Committee of the Democratic Civil Administration of Tabqa District carried out on Saturday a partial restoration of Ja’abar Citadel in the outskirts of Tabqa city.

The restoration included the right side of the entrance to the citadel, the damaged parts of the wall was filled with brown plaster to be close to the traditional color of the castle walls.

The co-chair of the Tourism and Antiquities Committee Zaradasht Issa said that the restoration came after the sabotage action which happened in the castle, especially the entrance during the control of the ISIS terrorist organization, over the city because the castle was the headquarters for the ISIS members, but the restoration was according to the possibilities of the Committee, in order to avoid the collapse of the entrance and the preservation of archaeological areas.

Zaradasht Issa said that the Tourism and Antiquities Committee will work in the coming stages and within the existing possibilities and expertise in order to repair the other archaeological sites affected in the city and its countryside.
