Raqqa National Hospital opens its doors again
Raqqa – The Civil Council of Raqqa opened on Monday the National Hospital in Raqqa, the co-chair of the Civil Council of Raqqa and a number of members of local councils attended the opening ceremony.
The hospital had been out of service for several years because of the destruction it had witnessed during the war against the terrorist organization ISIS, the hospital returned to work again.
The three-floor hospital had been devastated during the war against the ISIS organization. ISIS used the hospital as a headquarters for its military operations and exploded large parts of it.
In cooperation with the humanitarian organizations, the Health Committee of the Civil Council worked in order to rehabilitate and repair the hospital and provide it with a working medical staff within all departments and specialties.
The ribbon of the opening ceremony was cut by the co-chair of the Civil Council, Laila Mustafa and the co-chair of the Committee of Martyrs’ Families. After that the attendees made a tour in the hospital’s departments.
Kassar Al Ali, the director of the hospital said: “The hospital had been out of service for 3 years as a result of the war, 90 percent of the hospital was destroyed.” He also referred to their work in the rehabilitation of the hospital as well as the efforts of both the Civil Council and the humanitarian organizations working within City”.
Several departments were opened in the new hospital: Surgery, first aid, and Kidney Department, which will initially be opened with four devices during the coming week, later it will expand to include 12 devices.
The hospital will provide all its services for free to the residents of the city. Al Ali pointed out that they are ready to cooperate with all concerned sides and organizations in the medical affairs to develop the hospital and increase its capacity to be able to provide all medical services to the people of the city and its countryside.
