Raqqa – The Initial Response Team in Raqqa city exhumed 56 corpses of civilians executed by ISIS organization during its takeover of the city.
After the exhumation of the corpses at the Al-Fakheikha cemetery, the team began its work at the Pioneers Camp.
” Since the beginning of the work in the cemetery, 56 corpses of civilians executed by the terrorist organization on various accusations were exhumed, they were unidentified”, the head of the Initial Response Team in the Civil Council of Raqqa, Yasser Al-Khamis said.
He confirmed that the team has a missing record, the bodies are documented in electronic documents and archives, and some samples are taken to be examined and identified. The team is continuing its work and in the coming months they will be able to identify the missing peoples.
He said that they face some difficulties such as the primitive tools used to exhume the corpses in addition to the presence of thorns and some insects crawling like scorpions.
It is worth mentioning that the response team began work in the cemetery of the camp on June 9, 2019 after the exhumation of approximately 4500 corpses from the cemetery.
