Raqqa – The hygiene department of the People’s Municipality in Raqqa launched on Saturday a voluntary clean-up campaign within the city center in which dozens of volunteers participated.
The head of the hygiene department in the People’s Municipality Mohammed al-Hamdu pointed out that this campaign was part of a project that was developed by the hygiene department after several appeals from the residents of the city. They organized the campaign in cooperation with the city council.
The campaign began this morning to include the area surrounding the ancient mosque and the city center on Sayif Al-Dawla Street.
The campaign included cleaning the area from (dirt, rubble removal, cleaning of bisections, watering trees and spraying the streets with water).
Al-Hamdou added that dozens of neighborhood residents, members of the city council and the hygiene department’s workers participated in the cleaning campaign.
Work will continue on other projects and campaigns aimed at restoring aestheticism to the city as it was before the war.
