Raqqa – The village of Hawijat Atiq is located approximately 20 km west of Raqqa city and it is administratively affiliated with the municipality of Kdiran in the western countryside.
The village was established in the early 1970s in conjunction with the Euphrates Dam preparation.
Due to the availability of water and fertile agricultural land in its surroundings, the number of the arrivals who want to settle in the village has increased day by day reaching a population of 1,500 people.
All services are available in the village, including electricity, water and roads, as well as education since there are two schools.
Most of the village people belong to Alajil, Albu Jaber and Albu Rajab clans, and They work in agriculture and livestock breeding in addition to some of them tend to work abroad.
Village Council Chairman Abdul Karim Ali al-Ali indicated that all essential services are available and there is cooperation and coordination with the municipality of Kdiran to improve the service situation in the village as to rehabilitation of roads from time to time.
Informed that the village was liberated from ISIS terrorists by SDF fighters on April 15, 2017, and shortly after liberation, the people organized themselves by electing a Commune to run the matters.
