Afrin antiquities and systematic destruction.. an activity of antiquities committee of Tabqa
Tabqa- The committee of art and antiquities protection organized today Thursday an activity about the antiquities of Afrin city and the looting and destruction which caused to it by the Turkish army and the militants of the so-called Olive Branch Operation. It included a presentation of documentaries on antiquities and a photo exhibition at the city’s cultural center.
The activity was attended by members of both the Executive and Legislative Councils of the city, members of the Culture and Art commission of the self-administration of North and East Syria, members of the Directorate of Antiquities in Afrin and a number of residents.
The activity started with a minute of silence in the memory of the martyr’s lives, and then the co-chair of the Executive Council in Tabqa, Shayar Mohammed, welcomed the attendees and condemned the aggressive acts practiced by the Turkish government against the people and culture of Afrin and also condemned the Turkish intents.
Aisha Rajab, a member of the Culture and Art Commission of the self-administration of north and east Syria delivered a speech saying: “This exhibition aims to inform local and international public opinion about the systematic sabotage and distortion of the civilizational and cultural landmarks of the Syrian city Afrin committed by the Turkish government and its aides as well as the demographic change of the city” .
Documentaries were shown on the antiquities of the olive city and the destruction committed by the Turkish army and its followers.
In conclusion, the civil administration of Tabqa honored representatives of the Culture and Antiquities commission in Afrin after that the exhibition which included 50 introductory paintings on the antiquities of Afrin and the destruction caused to it was opened.
