In a statement issued today by its spokesman, the YPG condemned the shelling of a hospital in the occupied city of Afrin on this June 12th.
YPG spokesman Nouri Mahmoud affirmed that targeting the hospital is contrary to our principles aimed at protecting and liberating the people from mercenaries and terrorists.
The statement read:
To Media and public opinion.
On June 12, a hospital in Afrin city was targeted resulting in killing innocent civilians. As always, the Turkish President Erdogan hastened to falsely accused our forces of conducting the bombing.
The Turkish government that practices terrorism at home and abroad, particularly in Syria, is far from stigmatizing others with terrorism and showing itself as a defender of civilians meanwhile it is practicing terrorism of all kinds in the areas occupied by the government of the Turkish president Erdogan.
We, in YPG, condemn this act that is unrelated to us because it is not our principle to target civilians and conduct such acts. For years, we have fought against terrorism and occupation to liberate our people from the terrorism that is ravaging Syria with Turkish support. Protecting civilians has been and will continue to be a priority for our forces in all battles.
