With vigorous efforts made by several jurists and technicians at the YPG Media Center in the north and eastern Syria, the Facebook administration agreed to review an earlier request to re-notarize the YPG official Facebook page after it was removed in 2015 under Turkish pressure and without clear reasons and convincing evidence despite YPG multiple revisions to retract the unfair decision.
Although we consider the new decision to be a correction of an earlier mistake caused by the company’s administration, we hope that it will not subject to Turkish pressures and threats, and it should be clear in avoiding the political problems that Turkey is trying to drag global institutions into them. We also call on the Facebook administration to abandon the policy of banning posts relating to YPG heroism and posts exposing Turkish attacks on northern Syria on all other pages.
The YPG is considered the organized and disciplined force within the SDF and has provided thousands of martyrs to protect all region’s components and maintain global peace and security. Therefore, Not to hinder the YPG Media Center from publishing the message and heroism of its fighters on its official page is considered the real test of protecting freedom of expression and publication.
We congratulate our comrades at the YPG Media Center and wish them more success.
Farhad Shami- Head of the SDF Media Center
