On June 20 -2021 the Youth and Sports Committee in the city of Raqqa organized a race for purebred Arabian horses with the participation of the Raqqa Military Council, dignitaries, clan elders and some civil activities.
The race was held in five stages, starting with 400 meters, 600, 1000, 1600, and 2000 meters. Thirty-five knights from Raqqa and its countryside participated in the championship. At the end of the stages, the knight Raed Muhammad Ali won 2000 meters, and prizes were awarded to the first three places in each round.
Ahmed AL khdir the administrator in the Youth and Sports Committee stressed that organizing such competitions after a break of more than ten years is aimed at reviving this sport again, especially after the wars that happened in the city of Raqqa, the last of which was the war against ISIS, that destroyed And ruined the sports facilities in the city.
