The final statement of the SDF regular meeting

In the presence of all the commanders of the SDF factions and offices, the SDF Military Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. The meeting discussed military and security developments in the north and eastern Syria and the Syrian arena, the work of units within the forces, and follow-up the implementation of the annual meeting resolutions.
The meeting confirmed that ISIS continues to pose a real threat as its activity and attacks in the region escalate, which recently targeted prisons and detention facilities, the most violent of which was the attack on al-Sina’a prison in al-Hasaka. The meeting also discussed ways to take measures to defeat terrorist cells, maintain stability, and the need for increased coordination and cooperation with partners in the international coalition.
The meeting underscored that the fight against ISIS at this stage requires economic and service support to the civil administration in the region to prevent the resurgence of ISIS and create social conditions for stability.
The meeting focused on the case of ISIS prisons and detention facilities in the region, called on the international community to provide the necessary support to secure them, and urged the States to repatriate their nationals.
In context, the meeting addressed the hostile stances of the Damascus authorities, including the increased intelligence activity and the sharp counter-media terms and play on the strings of the area clans, the most recent of which is the blockade of the Sheik Maqsood neighborhood in the center of Aleppo governorate. The meeting called on the Syrian regime to stop these attempts and adhere to a political solution.
The meeting noted that the Turkish state has taken advantage of the world’s preoccupation with the war in Ukraine by increasing drones’ attacks, so the meeting addressed ways to strengthen mechanisms to protect the people and stop these attacks.
The meeting discussed the local military councils and the ways to activate them according to the rules of procedure and the resolutions of the last annual meeting and the mechanisms of training and equipping troops and leaders within specialized and quality training courses.
During the meeting, The SDF General Command called on all leaders to focus on supporting the Autonomous Administration and its local councils to protect the harvest season from possible subversive attempts that aim at destroying the region’s economy.
