Counter-terrorism Operation | One ISIS Cell Dismantled and Eliminated the Mastermind of Assassinations in Deir Ezzor Western Countryside
While our forces were preoccupied with countering the repeated aggressions of the Syrian regime and its mercenaries, ISIS seized the opportunity to activate its sleeper cells. Coordinating with the regime forces, ISIS sought to perpetrate terrorist acts and destabilize our secure areas.
However, our SDF’s counter-terrorism units (YAT) preempted these plans. On Friday, a successful security operation was conducted in Sweidan Jazira village, located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, Deir Ezzor western countryside. Supported by the international coalition, our forces encircled the ISIS cell and issued a surrender ultimatum. The terrorists refused to answer the call for safe surrender and opened fire, a clash ensued resulting in the elimination of the leader of assassination cells, Abu Osama, and one of his associates. Another terrorist was captured.

Our SDF forces reiterate their commitment to eliminating ISIS cells. Our response against the Syrian regime will not impede our efforts to pursue and neutralize terrorist threats. Instead, these challenges will fortify our resolve to protect our people and deal decisive blows to ISIS.
