Despite ISIS’s ongoing attempts to exploit the chaos in Syria to regain strength and resume terrorist operations—particularly in northern and eastern Syria—our forces continue their security efforts to dismantle its cells and capture its terrorists.
On Wednesday, March 12, our SDF’s Military Operations Teams (TOL) conducted a security operation in al-Hol camp, southeast of Hasaka, targeting an ISIS operative named Salah Abdullah al-Abd, aka Abu Azzawi, an Iraqi national.
Following thorough investigations and intelligence gathering, our forces raided where he was present in the camp and successfully captured him.
The terrorist Abu Azzawi played a key role in facilitating financial transfers for ISIS in Iraq and maintained regular contact with the organization’s leaders in Syria.
Our forces remain committed to dismantling ISIS’s infrastructure, targeting its financial networks, and preventing any attempts at resurgence. We will continue to safeguard the security and stability of our regions.
