Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt sweep the Syrian-Iraqi bordering areas, east of al-Hol

For the sixth day in a row, Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt continues against the ISIS terrorist cells and those involved in criminal acts in the areas of al-Hol, Tal Brak, and Tal Hamis. Today morning, the joint forces raided the villages and farms of Al-Sawi, Al-Janba, and Al-Khan, southeast of al-Hol.

The operation expanded to cover the Syrian-Iraqi border area. More than 63 km was swept along the desert east of the al-Hol, where ISIS cells could use it for hiding.

The joint forces raided possible hideouts, arresting three suspects who were, according to initial information, linked to ISIS terrorist cells. The arrestees were referred to investigation to inspect their true identities.

The forces also arrested four criminals involved in various criminal acts against the local populace, including kidnapping, looting, and extortion in the southern and eastern areas of al-Hasaka city.

In Marcada town, southern countryside of al-Hasaka, our special units enabled by Coalition’s aerial and ground support conducted a security operation targeting an ISIS cell of two terrorists.

Based on precise intelligence information, our forces raided the house where the two terrorists were hiding, arresting them and confiscating weapons and technical equipment.

The two arrestees were responsible for manufacturing IEDs and VBIEDs for targeting military points and security patrols in al-Hasaka and Deir Ezzor countryside.
